Just a Thursday. A simple photo log and narrative of an extraordinarily average day.

This morning I woke up about 30 minutes after my first alarm went off (as per usual). The morning is blanketed with fog, making it even more difficult to get up. If the trees get to stay under the cover of the clouds, surely I should be allowed to stay tucked away in the covers of my bed. Nothing feels different. It's just a Thursday morning.

I get ready and head to the kitchen to make breakfast and listen to my morning news podcast. A ritual that I have come to consider borderline sacred. Today's menu: avocado toast and the resignation of GB's Home Secretary.

A flatmate joins me in the kitchen. We move about opposite sides of the shared space, making our breakfasts in silence. After a few sips of my coffee, I feel awake enough to wade into conversation. I take out my headphones, plate up my meal and move to sit across from her at the table. We sit and chat for a while, then wash our dishes, wish each other a good day, and leave the kitchen without a trace.

I hold a great appreciation for people who can bring calm and joy to a space with just their presence.

I have about an hour before class to do some work, so I grab my rain jacket, slip on my converse, and step out into the drizzling rain. I am feeling particularly myself today.

There is a table not far from my lecture hall where I sit to catch up on a bit of reading. (so. much. reading.)

Class for 2 hours.

Back home for lunch.

Then back to central campus.

My shoe has come untied as I walk and I secretly hope nobody notices and points it out. I just want to pretend I don't see it and wait until my destination to reach down to tie it.

I see one of my instructors in line for one of the Thursday food trucks. He stops and greets me. Please don’t mention my shoelace…

"How are you?"

"How is the assignment coming?"

"Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help. My door is open."

“Heading to work on it now. I will. Thank you. Enjoy!”

I get to the library and find friends in one of the study rooms.

"Hi Reed. How are you?"

"Content, thanks. You?"

We spend a couple hours studying. At some point we learn that the British PM has resigned and discuss that for a while.

Casual.

Head out for another class. The topic today: domestic and community gardens, allotments, and urban agriculture.

Took a new way home, admiring how lovely the day looks all dressed up in autumn.

Dinner.

Tennis.

Study & a daily dance through the bookshelves.

Call a friend. Catch up for a while.

Home.

It’s the kind of day that grounds and reenergizes me. Yet there's nothing remarkable about it. It's just a Thursday.

Here’s another photo feature. Just a few pics from me and others of recent events:

Remember, I want to hear about all your days too. Head over to the ‘Update Me’ section when you get a chance. Hugs to all. Talk soon <3.
